The Peakhour Page Weight tool has been developed to show opportunities for reducing page weight on a given page. For now, the tool just analyses images to make sure each image is properly sized, uses the best format, and has the best compression level. Images are usually the heaviest part of a page, so optimising them can mean significant improvements in load times. Leading to more engaged, and higher converting customers.
Q. What does SSIM mean?SSIM = structural similarity index measure
SSIM is a method of measuring the perceived similarity between two images. If SSIM = 100% then two images would look exactly the same when viewed side by side. For the purposes of our report we've chosen a SSIM value of 95% when testing the quality level for compressions. This ensures we get the smallest possible file without losing much quality when viewed side by side. If you are using Peakhour then this value can be tweaked.
